The Georgia
Department of Labor (GDOL) has adopted an emergency rule, effective March
16, 2020. All employers are required to file for partial unemployment for their employees when, because of due to a partial or total company shut down caused by COVID-19, a part-time or full time employee works less than full time. Benefits are usually paid within 48 hours.Employees for whom you file a partial claim are NOT required to report to a
Georgia Department of Labor career center, register for employment services, or
look for other work.
If the employer doesn't file, the company will be required to reimburse the GDOL for the full unemployment benefits paid to the employee. The GCOL offices are closed, so these claims must be filed online. The instructions are here. https://dol.georgia.gov/document/document/how-employers-file-partial-claims/download
