Don't Need to File a Tax Return? Here's Where to Register to Get a Stimulus Check

Some people don't normally file a tax return, but they will want to receive a stimulus payment. There has been a lot in the news saying that people whose only income is social security will automatically get  stimulus checks.  However, another segment of people are not automatically covered for the stimulus payments.

These include:
  • People who collect only Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • People who make too little to have to pay taxes, but are not on Social Security
  • People who are homeless
  • People who are recently incarcerated
This group will need to file a simple tax return on a free "Stimulus Registration" tool to qualify for a payment. Link to the tool, offered by TaxAct here.
